USB Outlet Wiring

Post by dc »

USB and USB-C (USB-PD) appears to be on a trajectory to become the de facto standard for powering modern devices.

LumenCache is sometimes described as "Built-in USB for Homes and Offices". A plug-in AC powered USB adapter is limited to only providing power, but USB is a well-defined communication bus so a majority of it's benefits are lost. LumenCache allows your USB powered devices to digitally connect to your home gateway just like it was connected to a USB port on your computer.

To provide these capabilities, wire to USB jacks as follows:

For USB 1A and 2.1A only, a single Cat5 at 12V PDM input is ok.
For 2.4A it is recommended to use Cat6 with 24V PDM supply.
USB-C/USB-PD can provide up to 100W so we recommend using LC-Bus daisy-chaining up to 8 outlet locations from the same panel homerun.

See wiring guide from the Resources Tab on the LumenCache website: http://lumencache.lighting/wp-content/u ... Wiring.pdf

What is "home gateway"? Examples?

Thank you.

Best regards, George.
