Multiple HomeRun Splitters

New product requests and discussion. The Highly Modular Microgrid Platform supports hundreds of products. Many will be developed by LumenCache Labs but we will often recommend another developer take the reigns on a product they are ideally suited for. Multiple HomeRun Splitters

Post by dcrichter »

Based on the cost of Ethernet and the flexibility gained by home-running every light / fixture. I know there is the 2x splitters but in situations where we are running multiple lower amperage fixtures (5-6) this seems to get untidy rather quick in a larger square footage install. Are the splitters anything more than passive? to where a 110 or 66 block could be used? or maybe a larger 6x splitter could be produced?

Thanks

Dustin

LEDs below 24V can be connected in Series so each receives the same current. The market has settled on a few standard COB LED chip voltages so 3V, 6V, 9V, 12V, are relatively common, then the rest are usually 26-46V range. SMT LED fixtures are made from arrays of these voltages, usually 3V or 6V, and designed in series/parallel arrays to get to the right voltage to match the driver. Again, most are in the 34-38V range. Our L2-CC drivers have very wide input and output Voltage diversity as well as 4 current settings, so you can pair them with just about any fixture on the market--just toss the AC driver. Or ask the factory to sell without the driver and attach out SIB, which is what we do.

There's lots of 11-13V range LEDs that have about 400lm output at 300mA and some can go to 700lm with 600mA if the heat sink is designed properly. The LotusLEDLights.com have a 2in model that's 12V, so you can string up to 4-5 together on a single Cat5 PDM port. The new SIBs will also have a bypass feature so when one in the series fails then only the one light goes out and not the string.

Bridgelux makes some good tunable white COB chips we will be using in some of our fixtures this year that operate on 12-24V range.

Best to run 2x lights per cat5/port. There are many reasons why this is optimal balance of cost and benefits.

Thanks for the input on the lights per run. It’s easy to start thinking to just home run every individual light… :D

Thanks
