Did you find a great new product that works with LumenCache? Better ways to use the product?

Ceiling Fans for LibRE

Post by dc »

Here's some ceiling fans that work with LumenCache LibRE. You can run 1 per Cat5 or string a few together using an Amplifier and LCBus wiring (16-2 & Cat5). http://sunshineworks.com/solar-powered- ... ri-fan.htm
Connect through an L-SV1. You can do speed control. Set the L-WP1 to Linear Dimming.

You tweeted a link by NexTek power the other day that also featured that fan and a couple other available products on their page https://www.nextekpower.com/fanworks-catalog. How would the other two work? Also, for speed control, it seems to be done by voltage control. in order to hit the upper 24V range for the speed of the fan, wouldn't it require either two cat5e or LCbus wire to support just one? the specs state
Amps:
  • 0.5 @ 12 VDC
  • 0.78 @ 24 VDC
Wouldn't the upper limit require 18.72 watts which according to http://lumencache.lighting/partner/lights/, a fixture over 12W should use the LCbus wiring.
J-type (12V) multi-bulb fixture over 12W (LCbus wire)
Thanks. :)

Use an L-SV1 in the PDM. 1 cat5 to each fan. You can use 24v PDM supply voltage for best performance. Speed control will work fine from an L-WP1. Direction control can be a simple DPDT switch installed midway. Use 2 L-SIB-K at the switch and one at the fan so simple RJ45 tips everywhere.

The L-SV1 defaults ON so you can skip the L-WP1 if you don't need remote control via mobile devices or automation. Easy to pop one in later. Benefits of the modular design of LumenCache.

If you have L-CCB (BOOST) lighting drivers on the same PDM being supplied with 24v, you'll need to be sure the lights are at 32v or higher (9w or greater).

There are new L-CCS (SEPIC) LED drivers on the way that work with any supply and output voltage combination. This way you can use the 24v PDM supply and use any combination of lights.

Future LibRE driver modules will eventually go to 48W and the PDMs are designed for 570W when fed from 48v supplies. This configuration is not one we paid for certs yet but that is coming.

There is a press release on the Lumencache website about Aeratron Dc fans working towards Lumencache ready products - do know the progress on this?

They had some reorganizations with their NA distributing partner and are only recently re-engaging with us to get the DC motor controller done. Because their built-in light did not support dimming, California Title 24 kind of snuck up on them and they were not certified! Adding LumenCache solves that problem as we have dimming as a standard feature.
