Re: Wiring
Cat6A has a slightly higher copper thinkness so the wire loss is less than Cat5. For commercial projects or where the lenghts are over 100ft, Cat6 is recommended. Shielding is not required. I recommend shielding for switch wires that return directly to the PDM or USB outlets. This gives an opportuni...

Re: Home Theater Project
Home run wires to each fixture removes any limitations from the wire for a tiny incremental cost. Gen1 drivers are currently 16w so you can get 2 lights per cat5 home run with plenty of space. New 40W drivers are in the pipeline now. Another version with an accessory will allow 4 lights and a switch...

Until we have 40-60W driver modules released, yes. Gen2 first releases will include this 1Q18.

Re: Hardwired in addition to wireless wall switch
Panelized lighting systems like Vantage or Lutron use low voltage switch controls just like LumenCache. All accepted by building codes. If you are looking to omit a local switch altogether and use motion sensor or other means then some codes may not allow that. Same with battery-operated, usually no...

L-WP1.x Alternate Mode 6 Operation
Mode 6 allows a single momentary pushbutton to command lights OFF--RESUME--FULL--OFF, stepping through the states each time you press and release the button. Thanks to feedback from out dealers (Thanks Peter and Mark!) we added an Alternate Mode 6 setting. It does require a gateway or RS485 adapter ...

Re: Integration with HomeSeer on Raspberry Pi 3
The API of the WP1 currently does not use the Event model so it does not allow triggering of switch events. The new firmware and gateway will include these features.

Re: POE Switches
The Philips parts appear to be standard Ethernet PoE. If so, they will be fine with LumenCache Gen2. Gen1 does not support Ethernet data through the backplane but we have plans to make PoE injector modules that sit in the PDM port sockets but an external Ethernet network switch would still be needed...

Re: Ceiling Fans for LibRE
They had some reorganizations with their NA distributing partner and are only recently re-engaging with us to get the DC motor controller done. Because their built-in light did not support dimming, California Title 24 kind of snuck up on them and they were not certified! Adding LumenCache solves tha...

Re: Tunable Color Temperature Fixtures
YES.
They are 2 separate circuits. Simply use 2 ports, 1 for each color. You can use with Amplifiers too.
RGB Lights with common plus(+) are not compatible at this time.

Re: DMX 512 fixtures
There's a DMX Puck (looks like a SwitchPuck L-WP) in the works. Also a MODBUS version. This will send DMX or MODBUS down the Cat5 where you can connect to various DMX devices. Many have RJ45 already but there is not a single standard for the wiring so you may have to look at the pins the device is u...

Re: Hardwired in addition to wireless wall switch
Generally only requirement is: "a light outside each outside door controlled by an inside switch." California Title 24 has the most strict guidance but I didn't see anything requiring a switch, just "dimming". How it is accomplished seemed up to the implementation, which is great for LumenCache of c...

I agree with the lack of understanding by tech support but remember, the staff at the Apple genius bar doesn't know how the iPhone is made, just how to use it properly as designed. You're essentially asking the Apple genius bar guy to tell you how the Huawei VR camera works :-) The Juno light you re...

Re: Ceiling Fans for LibRE
Use an L-SV1 in the PDM. 1 cat5 to each fan. You can use 24v PDM supply voltage for best performance. Speed control will work fine from an L-WP1. Direction control can be a simple DPDT switch installed midway. Use 2 L-SIB-K at the switch and one at the fan so simple RJ45 tips everywhere. The L-SV1 d...

Re: Minnesota inspector
I haven't seen any restrictions for low voltage lighting in Minnesota. With all the cheap LED strip lighting and products flooding the market from China some AHJ's require safety tests for low voltage products even down to 12V strips. SELV ratings are 30VDC and below. While LumenCache PDMs have unde...

Ceiling Fans for LibRE
Here's some ceiling fans that work with LumenCache LibRE. You can run 1 per Cat5 or string a few together using an Amplifier and LCBus wiring (16-2 & Cat5). http://sunshineworks.com/solar-powered-ceiling-fans-vari-fan.htm Connect through an L-SV1. You can do speed control. Set the L-WP1 to Linear Di...

DC power infrastructure design engineers wanted
LumenCache is a DC Nanogrid. It is the last leg of power distribution in buildings terminating at each device and providing integrated communications and basic power management functions. Each Port supports up to 48W for LibRE and 100W for Gen2 lines. This results in typical panel supply power of 60...
